Words 365/9

head-in-a-barrel

Coughing and Spluttering

Coughing and spluttering

Struggling to breathe

Something to hold on to

That’s what I need

Just one push and all would be good

I never thought I’d die

In a barrel made of wood

The hand that is pushing

My head so hard

Is a strangers I think

I thought really hard

Just couldn’t recognise

The features I saw

In the moments before

My knees hit the floor

It doesn’t really matter now

My mind’s going blank

And so I expire here

In this water tank.
